Terms of service

Last updated 14 September 2026. These terms are between you and Tech-X, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

1. Agreement

By installing or using My Shop you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you are using it on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business.

2. The service

My Shop is software for recording inventory, sales and purchases. It works offline and synchronises with our servers when your device has a connection. We provide it as it is described on this site; features may be added, changed or removed over time.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with a Google account. Keeping that account secure is your responsibility.
  • You are responsible for everything done under your account, including by staff you add to your shop.
  • You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to run a shop on My Shop.
  • Do not share one login between people. Add staff accounts instead — that is what they are for.

4. Your data

The business records you enter belong to you. We claim no ownership over them. We store and process them only to run the service, as described in the privacy policy.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, and for keeping your own records where the law requires you to. My Shop is a tool for running your shop; it is not an accounting system of record and it is not tax advice.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use the service for anything unlawful, or to record trade in goods you are not permitted to sell
  • Try to access another shop's data, or probe, scan or test our systems without written permission
  • Interfere with the service, overload it, or attempt to bypass rate limits
  • Resell or sublicense the service without our agreement
  • Reverse engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it

We may suspend an account that breaches this section.

6. Offline use and sync

The app is designed to keep working with no connection, and to send queued work later. We take care to make this reliable, but you should keep your device charged and sign in periodically so queued sales can be sent. We are not liable for records lost because a device was destroyed, reset or wiped before it had a chance to sync.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, hosting failures and network problems happen. Because the app works offline, a server outage should not stop you trading.

8. Fees, trial and payment

Every new shop starts with a 30-day trial at no cost and with nothing to cancel. After the trial, the service is billed monthly in advance at the rates shown on the pricing page. We will give at least 30 days' notice before changing a price you already pay. Fees already paid are not refundable except where the law requires it.

Payment is made by Vodacom Lipa Namba to the number shown in the app. You submit the transaction reference from your payment; your plan takes effect once we have confirmed it. Confirmation is either automatic — our merchant phone receives the network's own confirmation message and matches it to your submission — or by hand against our records where it cannot be matched automatically. A reference may be submitted once. We may decline a reference we cannot match, and will tell you why.

A payment activates a plan only when it covers the full price of that plan. If you send part of the amount, the payment is recorded against your account and the app shows what is still due; your plan starts when the remainder arrives. Transfers made from the same phone number within seven days are added together towards the same plan. Nothing you have already sent is lost or refused, and no part payment is ever discarded.

Coupon codes issued by us add the number of months stated on the code, take effect immediately, and may be used once per shop. They carry no cash value and may expire.

8a. Late payment

If a payment is not received by the end of a billing period, your shop keeps working for a further seven days. After that period the app stops accepting new sales, stock and other changes until a payment is confirmed. Your existing records are not deleted, altered or withheld at any point, and full access resumes as soon as a payment is confirmed.

9. Ending the agreement

  • You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the app or from this page.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we stop offering the service — in which case we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.

10. Warranties and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost sales, or loss of data beyond our reasonable control. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 50,000 TSh, whichever is greater.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the courts of Tanzania have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
